About Mountain Maker Studio

Custom wood carvings built from real topography — not templates, not stock shapes.

Built From Real Places

Every carving starts with actual elevation data — the same kind of LiDAR-based mapping used by land surveyors — so the ridgelines, valleys, and contours in your piece match the real place, down to the details. Tell us a town, a trail, a summit, or a property, and we turn it into an accurate 3D model before a single cut is made.

That accuracy matters because these aren't abstract mountains — they're the specific ridge someone got married on, the land a family homesteaded, the peak that meant something the summer everything changed.

Precision Meets the Workshop

Once a design is confirmed, each piece is CNC-carved from solid hardwood and finished by hand. You'll see a digital 3D rendering and confirmed quote before we ever start carving, so there are no surprises.

Locally Sourced Hardwoods

We work primarily in black walnut, cherry, white oak, and ash, sourced locally in the Appalachians where possible. Each species has its own grain and character — walnut's rich chocolate tones, cherry's warm amber, oak's pale strength, ash's clean contemporary lines.

The Maker

Mountain Maker Studio is run by Mickey Strivelli, who set out to combine precision CNC carving with real geographic data so every piece is a genuine likeness of the place it represents — not just a mountain shape, but the actual mountain.
